What an affiliate link is
ReefDock includes links to third-party retailers. Some of those links may earn ReefDock a small commission if you make a purchase after clicking through. This does not change the price you pay — affiliate commissions come out of the retailer's margin, not your wallet.
Where the money goes
Affiliate revenue helps support ReefDock — hosting, development, marketplace tools, catalog maintenance, and future reefing features. It's one of the ways a one-person reef-hobby project keeps the lights on.
Compare before you buy
We try to keep retailer links useful and relevant. Affiliate availability does not mean a retailer is guaranteed to be the cheapest, best stocked, or best option for every buyer. Please compare pricing, shipping, livestock policies, and availability before ordering — especially on livestock, where shipping windows and DOA guarantees vary a lot between retailers.
No partnership implied
ReefDock has no official partnership, sponsorship, or endorsement from any retailer except where explicitly stated. Retailer names appear on ReefDock descriptively, to explain which sources are included in the catalog search. The presence of a retailer in search results does not imply that the retailer endorses or has reviewed ReefDock.
How this affects what you see
ReefDock's catalog search aims to surface relevant reef products across retailers. Search ranking is not paid placement — ReefDock does not currently accept payment from retailers to surface their products higher than other retailers' products. If that changes in the future, it will be disclosed here.
Marketplace orders are separate
Affiliate links and commissions apply only to retailer (catalog) clicks. ReefDock's Marketplace — where hobbyists buy and sell directly — runs on Stripe Connect, with a platform fee on completed sales documented at fees and payouts. Buying from another reefer through the Marketplace does not involve any affiliate relationship.
