About Duncan Coral
Duncan coral features branching polyps with distinctive tan, brown, or cream coloration, often with contrasting mouth openings. Polyps extend from a calcareous base and resemble small anemones with feathery tentacles.
Key facts
- Placement Recommendation
- Middle
- Care Requirements
- • Place in moderate light (PAR 150-250); thrives in middle zones • Moderate water flow; avoid strong direct currents • Primarily photosynthetic; supplement with small zooplankton or phytoplankton • Maintain stable parameters: 72-78°F, pH 8.1-8.4, salinity 1.025 • Keep away from aggressive corals; can retract if stressed
- Additional Notes
- Large fleshy LPS with long tentacles and a gentle sway. Each head opens like a flower and they form beautiful branching colonies. Moderate light is ideal. Moderate and indirect flow keeps the tentacles extended without blasting them. They respond well to stable nutrients and will happily eat meaty foods like mysis or small pellets. Growth is steady when conditions are stable. Duncans are forgiving and bounce back from stress more easily than most LPS.
