Appearance Description
Xenia umbellata is a branching soft coral with umbrella-shaped or hand-like polyp clusters at the tips of tubular branches. Typically displays white, pink, or tan coloration. The characteristic rapid pulsing motion of the polyps is used for feeding and gas exchange.

Care Requirements
• Moderate to strong water flow to encourage pulsing motion and nutrient delivery • Strong lighting (PAR 200–400) to support symbiotic zooxanthellae • Occasional target feeding with small foods (copepods, phytoplankton) • Stable water parameters: 72–78°F, pH 8.1–8.3, alkalinity 8–12 dKH • Avoid aggressive tank mates; shield from corals with sweeper tentacles
