- Diet Details
- Achilles Tangs are primarily herbivorous, grazing on marine algae in their natural habitat. In captivity, provide dried seaweed (nori), vegetable-based flake foods, and spirulina. Supplement occasionally with mysis shrimp or other meaty foods, but maintain an algae-heavy diet to promote health and coloration.
- Difficulty Level
- The Achilles Tang is a challenging species for experienced aquarists. It requires excellent water quality, a very large tank, and careful acclimation. It is prone to marine ich and other parasitic infections, making quarantine essential. Its semi-aggressive temperament and specific dietary and environmental needs make it unsuitable for beginners.
