Reddish-brown to tan body with five thick arms covered in chocolate-brown or dark nodules (cone-shaped tubercles) arranged in rows. Stout, compact form with a distinctive knobby texture across the dorsal surface.

Not suitable with small invertebrates or delicate corals. Best kept singly or with large, hardy fish that won't be consumed. May prey on snails, shrimp, and soft corals.

• Minimum 75 gallon tank with excellent water stability and circulation • Temperature range 72–78°F; highly sensitive to pH and salinity swings • Feeds on detritus, algae, and biofilm; supplement with dried seaweed or frozen algae • Poor shipping tolerance and acclimation success rate; prone to rapid decline in captivity • Nocturnal scavenger; provide low-flow areas and ample hiding spots
