About Spotted Unicornfish

The Spotted Unicornfish is a large, laterally compressed tang with a grayish-blue body covered in distinctive dark spots and blotches. It possesses a prominent horn-like rostral protuberance on the forehead (more pronounced in males), and a venomous spine at the base of the tail characteristic of the surgeon tang family.

• Minimum 180 gallon tank with substantial open swimming space • Temperature range 72–78°F; salinity 1.020–1.025 SG • Herbivorous; feed high-quality marine algae, nori, spirulina-based pellets, and occasional blanched vegetables daily • Peaceful temperament, but may become territorial with other large tangs; introduce as one of the last fish • Maintain excellent water quality and strong water circulation to prevent parasitic infections
