The Doubleband Surgeonfish displays a yellow-orange body with two distinctive dark bands running vertically across the head and gill region. It has the characteristic compressed body shape of Acanthuridae tangs, with a small venomous spine on each side of the tail base. The body transitions from yellow-gold to pale yellow ventrally.

Appearance
The Doubleband Surgeonfish displays a yellow-orange body with two distinctive dark bands running vertically across the head and gill region. Origin
Indo-Pacific region, including the Great Barrier Reef, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Found in coral reef environments from shallow to moderate depths.
Diet Details
Primarily grazes on algae in the wild. In captivity, provide dried seaweed (nori), marine algae sheets, and spirulina-based pellets as the staple diet, supplemented with small amounts of varied prepared foods.

• Minimum 75 gallon tank with plenty of open swimming space and rock formations for grazing • Temperature range 72–82°F; Salinity 1.020–1.026 SG; pH 8.0–8.3 • Herbivorous diet: feed high-quality marine algae sheets, nori, and spirulina-based foods 2–3 times daily; supplement with vitamin-enriched flake foods • Generally peaceful but may become territorial toward other tangs or similar-shaped fish; avoid housing with aggressive species • Provides algae control on rocks and sand; sensitive to water quality changes and poor nutrition (prone to malnutrition)
