The Barred Blenny is a small, elongated fish with a tan to brown base color and distinctive dark vertical bars running along the body. The head is blunt with a cirrus (tentacle-like projection) above each eye, and the dorsal fin is long and continuous, typical of the Blenniidae family.

The Barred Blenny is a small, elongated fish with a tan to brown base color and distinctive dark vertical bars running along the body. The head is blunt with a cirrus (tentacle-like projection) above each eye, and the dorsal fin is long and continuous, typical of the Blenniidae family.

• Minimum 30 gallon tank with plenty of rock crevices and caves for hiding and grazing • Temperature range: 72–78°F • pH range: 8.1–8.3 • Salinity range: 1.020–1.025 SG • Primarily herbivorous; feed varied diet of spirulina, nori, and high-quality herbivore pellets 2–3 times daily, supplemented with occasional small crustaceans • Generally hardy and peaceful, though may show mild territorial behavior toward other blennies in smaller systems
