Key facts

Care Requirements
• Minimum 75-gallon tank (150+ gal preferred for adults) • SG 1.020-1.025, pH 8.1-8.3, temp 72-78°F • Strong water flow, excellent filtration, low nitrate • Abundant live rock/algae for grazing; not fully reef-safe • Compatible with peaceful fish; may nip ornamental corals
Difficulty Level
The Kole Tang is moderately difficult and best suited to established reef aquariums with plenty of live rock for grazing. It requires stable water conditions, consistent feeding of algae-based foods, and a tank of at least 75 gallons to thrive long-term. Compatibility with passive tankmates is generally good, though newly introduced specimens may require acclimation.
