About Clearfin Squirrelfish

Holocentrus adscensionis is a medium-sized squirrelfish with a deep, moderately compressed body in shades of silver and red. The dorsal fin features a distinctive dark spot near the base, and the gill plates display vertical red stripes. The pectoral fins are characteristically translucent to clear, giving this species its common name "Clearfin Squirrelfish."

Western Atlantic, including the Caribbean Sea, Gulf of Mexico, and Bahamas. Also found along the coasts of Florida and the southeastern United States.

Feed small frozen foods such as mysis shrimp, copepods, and other zooplankton. Live brine shrimp may also be accepted. Feed 1-2 times daily, with feedings timed toward dusk when the fish becomes more active.
